Let this be a warning: I hope I don't scare the hell out of you with those lugubrious photos. It's another place I visited when I was in Dublin. Before I left home I did some research and came across this museum: The Kilmainham Gaol. It's a jail from hundreds of years ago where very nasty things happened. Maybe it sounds weird but I really like to visit this kind of places. Places with a juicy history. When you see this jail you'd probably think 'ok it's a jail from back then and it looks very old' but when the guide tells you the story behind it I'm sure you'll walk through this building with a different view. To give you a foretaste: on the last photo you can see a wall with a concrete line, it's the place where they used to do the death penalty. Prisoners had to stand in a row below the concrete line. Yeah it's not really for sensitive people, sometimes I was glad I couldn't understand everything ;) - Did I mentioned that Irish people are very hard to understand, even if they speak English. You can compare it with the difference between Dutch and Flemish. Back on topic: If you like this kind of museums just like me, it's worth to visit the Kilmainham Gaol. One day I want to go back cause I missed the coolest and most impressive part of the building because of construction works.
